Immigration, tariffs, Affirmative Action, DEI, AI…

What a week of change for our HR community. We knew it was coming, but it’s still a lot and it’s affecting everyone differently.

Please know we’re here for you.

In late 2024, SHRM-Atlanta met with metro area executives and a common concern was the impact of the pullback from company diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and policies. HR leaders reasserted their commitment to fostering belonging in their organizations even if the DEI label became too divisive to retain.

So, here we are in 2025, and the dismantling of DEI programs and reframing of discrimination began in earnest this week with executive orders issued by President Trump. We can anticipate a wave of legal challenges and new regulations, resulting in compliance confusion for at least the time being.

Amid this, SHRM-Atlanta wants to assure that we remain committed to our core values. We also want to help you with risk management and HR strategy in transforming your workplaces and workforces.

In the coming weeks, we will be introducing:
  • A new partnership to more efficiently address your compliance concerns

Additionally, while SHRM-Atlanta does not participate in lobbying efforts, we will continue to monitor SHRM National’s policy guidance and advocacy initiatives and encourage you to contact us about how we can help you navigate the evolving landscape.
