I decided to join SHRM-Atlanta because I was looking for a change and had recently voluntarily resigned from a role for the first time in my career. I joined primarily to network and take advantage of the professional development opportunities and events. I wanted to get more involved and enhance my leadership skills, so I joined the Volunteer Leadership Team as a part of the Scholarship Committee. I ended up being chair of the committee and it has been one of the most gratifying experiences to build this program out with my committee and the SHRM-Atlanta staff. I’m so proud of the work we’ve done to play a small role in the continued professional development of our members with the scholarships we’ve awarded over the past two years. Joining was one of the best decisions I’ve made…… ever!
